AMY FLOWERS, ED.S, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist, EMDR Therapist
Amy is a native of the Birmingham area. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from The University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1999. She earned a Master of Arts Degree in Community/Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002 and an Educational Specialist Degree in Counselor Education from UAB in 2004.
Amy served as a child/adolescent therapist at Alabama Psychiatric Services from January 2010 - February 2015. There she worked with children, adolescents and families with a myriad of presenting problems. Amy provided group therapy to adolescent girls who struggled with self-esteem, poor coping skills, and self-injury.
Amy worked at the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center from May 2001 - January 2010, where she gained experience providing group and individual therapy to at risk children and adolescents and survivors of sexual abuse, physical abuse, or neglect. There she also taught parenting classes and supervised master's level interns.
Amy has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Montevallo, where she taught Play Therapy to Master's level students.
Amy provides services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
